When parents join a co-op they join a group of parents who are interested in becoming actively involved in their children's education. A co-op depends on parent participation in the school. Co-ops share the philosophy of child rearing that consists of a belief in the importance of parenting, a respect for childhood and a commitment to providing hands on experiences for children in the early years. Teachers and parents work together to provide a rich environment where children can learn by doing and where children can develop social skills by interacting with their peer group. Parents and children share in the daily chores.
